About Knowire Installations
Knowire Installations Ltd is a Central Scotland electrical contractor specialising in compliance: Electrical Installation Condition Reports, fixed-wire testing, the remedial works that follow, and the wider fire and safety compliance packages that commercial buildings need. Founded by Raymond Garyfalou and run as a NICEIC Approved Contractor, the business exists to take the unpredictability out of electrical compliance for letting agents, landlords, facilities managers, portfolio owners and homeowners alike.
Raymond spent his early career inside the electrical testing world, training under contracts for councils and housing associations where the volume of EICRs taught him exactly what a defensible report looks like, and what over-coded ones cost insurers and landlords. He carried that discipline into management roles within the sector, then founded Knowire so clients could get the same level of rigour and consistency from an independent, City & Guilds qualified and SJIB graded electrician.
Every job is delivered to BS 7671 wiring regulations and the reports are written for the people who actually use them: insurers, compliance officers, building managers, and the agent, owner or homeowner signing them off. Findings are coded conservatively, photographed where it helps, and explained in plain English. Where remedial works are genuinely needed, from a single socket to a full rewire, they are scoped and priced separately so there is never any pressure to bundle.

What areas do you cover?

Do you work for homeowners as well as commercial clients?
Yes. As well as commercial EICRs for agents, landlords and facilities managers, we carry out domestic EICRs for homeowners, whether you want the peace of mind of knowing your installation is safe, or your insurer stipulates that a valid EICR is in place. The same conservative coding and plain-English reporting applies.
Are you accredited and insured?
Yes. Knowire is a NICEIC Approved Contractor (No. 608681), and Raymond is a City & Guilds qualified, SJIB approved graded electrician. We carry public liability, professional indemnity and employers' liability insurance, hold full health and safety documentation, and can provide RAMS (risk assessments and method statements) on request, which commercial clients often need for site access.
How long has Knowire been trading?
Knowire Installations Ltd was incorporated at Companies House in 2020 (company number SC657223), founded by Raymond Garyfalou, who has been working in electrical testing and compliance since 2016. Raymond personally attends most jobs and is responsible for the standard of every report we issue.
What other services do you offer besides EICRs?
Alongside EICRs and fixed-wire testing we carry out remedial works (from changing a single socket to a full rewire), and wider compliance packages including emergency lighting, fire alarm testing, fire risk assessments and PAT (portable appliance testing). Keeping it under one contractor means one point of contact and one consistent standard of documentation.
What are your working hours, and can you test out of hours?
Our standard hours are Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:30, with Saturday morning slots (08:00 to 12:00). We also offer out-of-hours testing for commercial sites that prefer to be tested outside trading hours, so we can minimise disruption to your business.
Do you offer free quotes?
Yes. Request a quote through the website with the property type, postcode, number of distribution boards and your required completion date, or call 07776 040 412. We will come back to you, normally within one working day, with a clear written quote and no hidden extras.
What payment methods do you accept?
Bank transfer is our preferred method for commercial clients; we also accept card payments and cheques on request. Invoices are issued on completion of the on-site work, and the insurer-ready PDF report is issued within 24 hours of the invoice being settled.
How much will it cost?
EICR pricing starts from £150 plus VAT and depends on the number of distribution boards, consumer units and circuits in scope. A single domestic or small commercial unit is at the lower end; larger commercial sites, HMO portfolios and multi-DB industrial premises are priced on scope. Send us the details and we will provide a clear written quote after a short scoping conversation.
How quickly can you do it?
It depends on the size of the job and the date you need it completed by. Most single-site EICRs in Central Scotland can be scheduled within one to two weeks. For tighter compliance windows, insurer renewals, sale conditions or council deadlines, tell us the date you need and we will do our best to fit you in, including out-of-hours slots.
How quickly can I get the certificate?
Your insurer-ready EICR PDF and supporting paperwork are issued within 24 hours of your invoice being settled. For multi-site programmes we agree a reporting cadence at the start so your compliance records stay up to date.
Can you do the remedial work if any is required?
Yes. We carry out remedial works ourselves, from changing a single socket to a full rewire and everything in between, bringing the installation up to BS 7671 compliance and re-certifying it. Remedial works are quoted separately from the EICR, so you see the scope and price in isolation and can decide whether to proceed with us or use your own contractor.
How quickly can you do the remedial work?
We always aim to complete remedial works within a week of the EICR being issued, depending on the scale of the findings and any specialist parts that need ordering. For larger programmes we agree a phased plan so the building's occupants or operations are disrupted as little as possible.
What is included in a Knowire EICR?
Fixed-wire testing across the installation to BS 7671, a full Electrical Installation Condition Report, conservative and justified coding, photographic evidence of observations, an asset register covering distribution boards and sub-mains, and a clear separation between genuine safety issues and advisory items.
